From August 18 to October 5, 2025
Little known, naturalist and botanist Marcelle Gauvreau worked to advance science, particularly through her research on local marine algae and her outreach to young people.
Inspired by the rare seaweeds found throughout the world, this artistic and scientific project, the result of a collaboration between photographer Yves Lavoie and museologist and researcher Philippe Denis, pays tribute to her.
Presented jointly at the Reford Gardens and the Redpath Museum, the exhibition aims to introduce this important scientific figure and to showcase some local seaweed specimens as a fun way to compensate for the inability to go to the beach to learn about seaweed harvesting and seaweed making, both sources of enthusiasm and knowledge.
► From August 18 to October 5, 2025, at the Reford Gardens (Grand Métis)
► From September 2 to October 20, at the Redpath Museum (Montreal)
