A journey of self-discovery set to the rhythm of music,
with Rose-Marie Charest, psychologist, author, and speaker,
and Lydia Clapperton, composer and pianist.
A conversation on the themes of the sea and motherhood.
Music and words: Two sources of reflection that alternately nourish one another.
Rose-Marie Charest is a psychologist, author, and speaker. In 2025, she published “Ce que j’ai appris de vous”, a synthesis of what 42 years of clinical practice have taught her about human beings. She served as president of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec from 1998 to 2015. Since then, she has devoted herself to her career as a communicator. Her name is well known to the general public as well as to listeners of ICI Radio-Canada Première, where she regularly appears as a columnist or commentator.
A native of the Gaspé Peninsula, she credits that region with fostering her love of communication—and conversation in particular. In an article paying tribute to her as a graduate of the University of Montreal, she was described as “the psychologist who speaks to the people”—a title she quite likes.
Lydia Clapperton, a native of the Gaspé Peninsula who lives in Rimouski, places great importance on dialogue and relationships—with nature, with oneself, and with others.
Her music, inspired by the beauty of nature, the river, and the forest, revolves around evocative, sensitive, and expressive melodies. Her compositions, imbued with emotion, are at times reminiscent of Impressionism and Post-Romanticism.
Presented on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the aire Desjardins of the Great Hall of the Jardins de Métis.
The talk is free for members of the Jardins de Métis and for those who have paid their admission fee to the Jardins de Métis.
